Neither rain nor cold nor snow shall keep these club members from improving the range. A tremendous and hardy thanks goes out to all the members who have pitched in to improve the BR Range. New and rebuilt/improved points have been added, a new pad and a ton of dedication has gone into this project. Next time you see the following people let them know how much you appreciate what they have done: Lonnie Gordon, Jeff Schopper, Ed Chase, Steve Archibald, Cody Archibald, Don Archibald and Jan Sarras.

Posted 2/21/05 from Jan Sarras: Steve Archibald, Jeff Schopper and I did some more work today. We set the angle irons to support the new tops that Steve made. Ed Chase made the older tops, and supplied the metal and Fab Tech fabricated it to fit .Lonnie Gordon was out too, surveying what he could accomplish with his tractor and we may move dirt tomorrow, 02/22/05. The Air National Guard is to show up this coming Thursday to haul road base and also they are to supply us with a "Bobcat" and an operator. Major Mark Hall has had the troops move their containers and has been very instrumental in getting things going to aid in our goal of a first rate range .His support will benefit the ANG as well as PVGC Inc Also, Mike DelSadato of the ANG has been a great liaison for us with the Guard. Things are starting come together with a great team effort from PVGC Inc., ANG, and the club members Thanks to all…!!!
Posted 2/22/05 from Jan Sarras: Please welcome our newest member, Bryn Borras, to the PVGC. Bryn is the NBRSA Southwest Regional Shooter of the Year. He is from Tracy, Ca. and has contributed to our club already in ordering trophies for the upcoming shoots, printing work and assembly and had also donated trash containers. Thanks Bryn for diving right in!

Lonnie Gordon and I have been working on the range the past two days. We had 46.5 tons of road base delivered. PVGC paid for the material and The Air National Guard hauled the material for us for FREE!!!! ANG also supplied us with a "Bobcat" and driver who worked on the berm at the 100 yard line. They did a great job towards our goal at the BR range. Lonnie did an EXCELLENT job of spreading the base behind the shooting line and also worked at the 100 yard line. I have prepared the "Wailin Wall" and painted bench numbers on the front of the twenty benches to aid in flag arraignments at the upcoming shoots. Things are looking good all over. The ANG has all but handed over the paperwork on the 40' trailer that is parked at the range. They have taken their lock off and Major Hall is awaiting the paperwork to transfer ownership to PVGC Inc., what a nice addition for the club. If and when you encounter any guardsmen on the range it would be nice to thank them for their efforts. Major Hall and Major Knaf are working to get us a backhoe loader and operator to enable us to finish up the dirt work. They have really helped a lot. As the area dries out Lonnie will continue to work on the range. I'll continue to send in pictures and updates as the work progresses. Thanks to all that have given us support on this project. --Jan Sarras
...And so, betwixt them both, They licked the platter clean.
Last July, Bryn and his brother Jan shot in Sacramento. Bryn won 3 events out of 4 possible and Jan captured the LV @ 100 yards. Bryn won the Two-Gun Grand Agg and Jan lowered the Sacramento Range record to .081. PVGC has been a force at the Folsom range with local shooters Jeff Schopper and Lonnie Gordon gathering awards there too. At one event last year Nevadans took home top honors in 6 of 8 contests.
Web Mistresss note: See the NBRSA News February 2005, page 17.
3/2/05: This pic is the approach to the BR range where the roadbase was placed by the ANG and Lonnie and I spread it out to form the taper and get rid of the constant mud puddle. The Lower right section is the handicaped ramp. Still a work in progress. Ed Chase is working on getting the PA system working under the awning. - Jan Sarras
Posted 3/5/05: We set the backer receptacles today and also 20 target stands behind the small beam at 100 yards. Ed Chase has the PA System up and running too. Pictured left to right are Don Archibald, Steve Archibald, Ed Chase, Jeff Schopper and Lonnie Gordon. Cody Archibald was out helping too, but left before the pics were taken. In the foreground is Cash and Bullet, Jeff"s constant companions. Thanks for the HELP guys. - Jan Sarras
Lonnie has cleared all the sagebrush from 200 to 300 yards. We also drilled all the stand holes for the backers at 200 and 300 yards.
Lonnie moves the EARTH……………with his Lil Red Tractor
Ed Chase refurbished this metal into a stand from which the RO (range officer) will call the line. I painted it today and Ed and I are going to place a counter top on it, I'll supply a sun shade and chair for comfort. From this position, the line is clearly visible and the PA system (thanks again Ed) will be accessable.
The area now cleared, the ANG ,Rick Depaoli, advised me today he would set a berm in for us at the 200 and 300 yard line. The ANG has really contributed a lot towards getting us up and running. BTW, a practice shoot with moving backers will be shot this coming Sunday, the 19th, and is open to all whom may wish to participate. As this is a "Shakedown" shoot the fee will be $3.00 to cover targets and lead abatement. Hope to see you there. 40 Caliber and under, no muzzle breaks.

Tons of Range Improvements
This is a view from the Range Officers stand. Notice the white safety line. Safety first gentlemen. Reminder for BR shoots……………. Do Not place any ammunition in the action or breech of your rifle until the ' COMMENCE FIRE" command is given by the Rang Officer. During the Cease Fire periods, all bolts MUST be removed from your rifle, on the line and away from the line.
Thanks to the Air National Guard and the Bureau of Land Management for some heavy duty equipment.
Web mistress's note: Range improvements take all sorts of heavy duty equipment, especially people power. We owe a great sense of gratitude to all members who have pitched in and used muscle power to improve the range. If your name isn't among those listed on this page, consider pitching in. There is a great sense of comradery and achievement after a day of working on the range. Contact Jan if you would like to help.
Geoff Wise and Stan Mund donated 2 cases of 200 yard BR targets to the short range BR shooters stockpile.. Thanks you two very much! Also, I talked to Major Hall of the Air Guard and he is co-coordinating a "Bobcat and operator" for use at the range to build an impact safety berm on the small bore range just beyond the 100 yard line to help deter ricochets, good deal !!! Thanks to all parties concerned for your help! BR Match Director…………Jan Sarras
Palma Team Tryout Results
At the Palma Team Tryouts ending October 20, 2005 Mike Schreier and Lane Buxton made the first cut and are in the top 28 to continue training for the US Palma Team. congratulations Guys!!
Lonnie Gordon , Bob Ralston and I worked this week installing power outlets and new Range Signs. The Air National Guard provided two Guardsmen and equipment. The Guard provided a trench from the shooting line out to two hundred yards. Jason Huth and Kevin Durkin provided Guard labor and did a great job. Jason also, with a donation from Jeff Schauer from White Cap provided PVGC with the new signs, very professional work, thanks Mr. Schuaer and Mr. Huth. Electrical outlets were placed at 50, 100, and 200 yards. Bob Ralston provided his professional "Electrical Expertise" in wiring up the outlets. Ed Chase supplied the needed extra wire to finish up the electrical work, and Lonnie and I provided a couple of days labor getting this all together. PVGC member Bryn Borras provided us with a STOP sign, the base, compliments of FABTECH, has been placed . Bob Ralston is going to get it up and running. It will be controlled from the Range Officers Stand. Plans are in place to place a culvert on the east side of the range to alleviate the "puddle" behind the line. The Guard is also planning on delivering road base to be spread out from the line to 25 meters out. The Guard also planning to supply a dump truck and operator to haul more road base for our use behind the line and next to the reloading area. IF I missed anyone in the way of thanks I do apologize, hard to keep up with so much help being provided. Thanks to all of you, the Range is steadily improving ! Let's keep at it. Jan Sarras 3/18/06
Last week I worked with Jason Huth and Kevin Durkin of the Nevada Air National Guard in getting approximately 90 tons of road base delivered to the BR Range. The following week-end, PVGC member Lonnie Gordon brought out his now famous "Lil Red Tractor" and spread the material out. Great job Lonnie. Thanks to all that have helped in this segment of the ongoing range improvement process. Special thanks to Lonnie, Steve Archibald and Jeff Schopper................. Jan Sarras 4/19/05
